Harvey Mudd College seeks to educate engineers, 科学家们, and mathematicians well versed in all of these areas and in the humanities, social sciences and the arts so that they may assume leadership in their fields with a clear understanding of the impact of their work on society.

Harvey Mudd College is currently engaged in a community-wide strategic planning process following the arrival of 哈里特·B总统. 2023年7月的Nembhard. 

During President Nembhard’s first 100 days, she invited the community to meet with her to share thoughts on how Harvey Mudd can continue to accelerate its success in a rapidly changing world. Through a combination of individual and group meetings with students, 教师, 工作人员, 校友, 父母, trustees and friends of the College, and an online suggestion form, community members shared what they value about Harvey Mudd, as well as their challenges and aspirations for the College.  

President Nembhard summarized these initial conversations and comments in the 100 Days of Community Connections Report, which serves as a starting point for the strategic planning discussions the community is engaged in as it comes together to envision the future of Harvey Mudd College.

Strategic planning is the process of determining where you are now, where you want to be and how you will get there.

Each Working Group is asked to develop a three-page report—in response to its charge and focus questions—that reflects the College’s values, 本质, distinction and SOAR analysis.

Suggested Schedule/Plan:

  • 2月第一周. 19 – attend focused SOAR sessions; determine a chair
  • 2月第一周. 26 – extract and group SOAR input most relevant to the charge and focus questions; convene and review focus questions
  • Week of March 4 – convene and discuss/prepare preliminary responses to focus questions
  • Week of March 18 – share drafts with the College community for feedback and refinement
  • Week of March 25 – convene and update/finalize report
